THERE will be a fusion of two of Maclean’s most significant cultural influences at this month’s 107th annual Highland Gathering, when the Story Keepers Aboriginal Art Exhibition opens.
Showcasing the works of Yaegl artists Elsie Randall and Troy Little, the exhibition offers a unique insight into the cultural identity and connection to Mother Earth of these local artists.
Mrs Randall said the exhibition provided a wonderful opportunity to see the work of local artists from the age of 10 to more than 50 years old.
“This will mark an historical event for the local Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people,” she said.
“It is a time when Aboriginal and Scottish can share in celebration of their cultures through dance, music and art.”
The exhibition can be viewed from 9am to 4pm on Friday and Saturday, April 22-23, and from 10am-3pm on Sunday, April 24, at the CWA Building in River St.
